Darrin Hixenbaugh: A lomo is purposely made very poorly (see mere mortal's answer) in order to give random artsy images. It's not a general purpose camera. If you want to take a camera to the grand canyon or for wedding photos, don't take a lomo. If you want to take a "dark" photo of a clown at a carnival, the lomo is your best choice....Show more
Kelly Bistodeau: First of all, don't confuse a "lomography" camera with a REAL film camera. Some people are starting to get confused and think that all film cameras take pictures like lomography cameras.Like the other answers said, a lomography camera is a toy plastic film camera. They often have defects, such as light leaks, and soft focus and color fringing because of the poor quality plastic lens. Some people like those defects to get interesting and creative effects in their pictures. But you just need to keep in mind that it's because of DEFECTS in the camera, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the film.A re! al film camera will take very sharp, clear pictures. In fact, they often take much better quality pictures than digital. If you want, you can look at my Flickr photo stream. I take almost ALL my pictures with film. http://www.flickr.com/photos/silverscape/...Show more
Robin Marchione: The difference between a "regular" film camera and a Lomo film camera is typically defined by build and image quality.A lomo camera is typically a cheap toy camera made with a plastic lens and body. It may have light leaks, will almost certainly have vignetting and other optical "flaws". The look and randomness of these flaws are what make lomo cameras so interesting to many photographers.***http://www.lightanon.com/-/lightanon/gallery.asp?c...http://www.flickr.com/photos/strangeseaofthought/s...http://www.flickr.com/groups/holgaweekly/...Show more
