Giovanni Malool: We taught out boxer to roll over and play dead when we said "gas, gas, gas!" - must be a military thing but the visitors sure were impressed!
Travis Colomb: Have you tried the game "SEARCH". My dog likes this but it does take a particularly bright dog. They need to be started young. You start your young pooch off with a directive such as "Find your treats, go search". Let the young dog see you place or toss small treats in the yard. "Go get your treats, search!" As the dog searches, repeat phrases like "Search. Where are the treats?" Supply periodic praise when he/she locates th! em. "Good Dog. You found your treat." "Search. Where are the treats?"You eventually move onto common inanimate objects within the household. My dog has moved onto identifying phrases like "Search - Where is the telephone?" "Search - Where are the car keys?" "Search - Where is the front door?" Etc. As soon as my dog moves in the appropriate direction toward the object and looks at it, I supply him with positive praise and an immediate reward such as a bit of cheese or organic chicken,...I find it keeps his mind stimulated, it allows time for obedience training and bonding, and encourages the dog to be familiar with the home environment. Very Best!...Show more
Clifford Riggleman: cuddles is a good one sit in a chair or on the couch tap your leg to get the dog to put his paws on your lap and pat or cuddle him my dad tough his dog this and when you say cuddles he'll hop up and give you one soon enough the dog might ask you for cuddles
Vickie Clampett: Some of my co-! workers have taught their animals to "play dead" when you poin! t a finger like a gun and say "bang; also to give high-fives. Both really funny to see the dogs perform.Just build on the roll over and shake he already knows.Sounds like maybe you should take your dog to agility classes!
Ardelia Liptow: Teach to get the newspaper or something like that. That would be cool.
Veta Slicker: high five ... it's a modified shake ... put your hand up a little higher than his shoulder (with your palm facing up) and say shake (or however you get him to do shake) ... next time have you hand in the same location physically and have your palm facing him (ask him to shake again). your dog will only be able to smack your hand with his/her paw because there is no where to stop his motion. give him/her a treat. Next time make sure you do everything physically the same but instead of saying shake ... say "high five (buster - or whatever your dog's name is). that's how quick and easy it is. he/she will learn it in a day....Show more
Shan L! anen: A cute trick is to have your dog touch items. I will put out all sorts of items...books, toys, etc....and say go "touch it". My dog will run over and touch the things with her paw.I also do agility which is a lot of fun....you can start by setting up an obstacle course in your backyard!
Mohamed Szollosi: high fivedance play die
Raven Purl: Teach him to get something from the fridge, like a coke or beer. My Doberman would get the bottle when my kids where babies
Carlton Lastrapes: teach him to play basketball!
Inge Mclaurine: You could try agility.Thats so much fun and my dogs love it.To teach it ..... well ... go to an agility club. Its not expensive.See Google for lists of clubs.Hope this helps and WOW!! - you have one smart dog.
Emilie Santmyer: Teach him how to walk on a leash without pulling you along. Teach him how to learn manners so when people come over her knows how to behave.
Toney Flaten: You didn't mention it, but, does! he know how to "heel"?
Lonnie Jehle: Bow. That's always a cute ! one.
Jamika Gregorio: Some ideas I taught our French Mastiff to do:Bare her teeth (very intimidating!) hee heeCrawlPlay dead when "shot" with your finger gunPoop only in a certain spot in the woods (no clean up!)Get my slippersand get the paper...Show more
Weldon Totaro: I don't see fetching in there anywhere. you could train him to bring you things. Use things that he would recognize and reward for success.
Rodolfo Merel: Have you taught him "Leave It" , where he won't touch something like a treat or toy unless you give the ok? It's a good one for safety reasons in case you dropped something or he found something that could be dangerous to him. I've taught my dogs that by putting a treat on the ground and saying "leave it". If he gets close cover the treat with your hand, say "leave it" and don't uncover until he backs off. Gradually you are able to move further from the treat for longer periods of time until they have it down. If you want to move th! at to a trick later, you can do the one where you balance the bone on his nose (say leave it) until you give the "take it" command and he'll flip it up and catch it for you. That one is always a party pleaser :) Sounds like you have a smart doggy there, maybe you should check into the Canine Good Citizenship Test in your area. That will show some other obedience things you could work onTara...Show more
Kizzy Hett: You could teach her how to play dead? You should demonstrate it to her and then say what it is. Do it until she understands and ask her to do it. Reward her if she does it or trys to do it. Remember this is a difficult trick to teach somone who doesn't have thumbs, doesn't speak our language and only see's in black in white, so don't get so grouchy if she doesn't learn it quickly.
Cody Shimko: http://www.digitaldog.com/http://www.dogchannel.com/dog-training/dog-trainin...http://101-dog-training-tips.com/Dog_Training_Tips...

Samatha Nicar: Is he house trained?
Judie Kise: oh and he cancomeand lay down to
Carolynn Testani: teach him to dance... i tought mine just get them on their hind legs make them jump up and down and turn around at the same time i had mine follow a treat around
Damion Oleksa: get my slippers
Jed Porada: Teaching the dog tricks is fun and can be very rewarding, I suggest some agility training if you like that type thing or Frisbee. I would however first teach the dog Come if you have not done it, this simple command can save the dogs life in an emergency situation. Teach your dog come and wait, best trick a dog owner can ever teach
Ileen Oshell: I toaught my lab to "sit pretty" she sits on her hinds legs and sits up and bends her paws-- we just kept repeating it and helping her and now if she knows we are mad at her, she will sit pretty or if she wants a treat she will do it. We also taught her to open up the screen door when she has t! o go outside.
Dorinda Metzer: What about how to put his paw over his face? That one is cute.
