auto repair - Can I get my car fixed?

Eulah Hugill: The car is probably driveable with a lot less than the $5000. repair. Take the car to a Mechanical shop, not a body shop and ask them if they can fix it so that you can drive it for awhile. Chances are you've bent a suspension component that can be replaced and then aligned so that you can drive.

Ariel Arons: Possibly sell it for parts / engine at about 1000$ if that and then buy a new car. Not worth putting that kind of money into a 98' honda

Nona Lentini: A picture would help very much here. Get 2 more estimates and then use the 50 % rule. If the repair is at or more than 50 percent of what the car is worth, then sell the car or junk it.

Shon Almquist: If I read your question correctly, Are you asking if your insurance will cover the damages after 1/1/2014?. The answer is no, because the accident took place well before that date. According to KBB your car is worth about $3500 in excellent condition, with less than 90,000 miles, so putti! ng $5000 into it is a total waste of time. This car is totaled. Check around and see if a body shop will do a "safety style" repair, which means they will install a new headlight and just put everything back into place so the car works correctly and is safe, but will still show some damage. I worked in a body shop and we did these occasionally, usually for a 50 to 75 percent savings. Without seeing your car, I can't say for sure whether this kind of repair is possible or not, but it won't hurt to ask. Good luck and sorry to hear about your mis-fortune...Show more
